She is a performer, designer and a music pioneer. She was a Mexican American artist that was modern and traditional. She brought together both worlds and helped bring Tejano music into the mainstream. The tragic loss of her life shattered her rise in popularity, and like many times when a glowing, charming singer dies too young, it left many to mourn all the untapped potential. Since then, her fans have worked even harder to not forget what she has achieved. The tragic shooting death of Selena caused a reaction in the Latino Community that was comparable as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. The singer was extremely popular throughout Latino communities across North America her music crossed lines of cultural difference to affect the lives of children as well as old. Selena is an edgy sexy performer, sometimes referred by the name of Latina Madonna. She's also considered a role model to be reckoned with because off stage Selena has a family-oriented attitude and actively is involved in anti-drug campaigns.
